Hats? I thought women were supposed to cover their hair to keep from leading men astray into impure thoughts. A fool’s errand, I’ll grant, but none the less the sort of thing a modest women should do.

Its amazing how God’s preferences vary depending upon on the preferences of the nutbag who is speaking for him.

How do they explain the continued existence and thriving of the Castro district in San Francisco? God had his big chance to level it during the 1989 earthquake, but barely touched the place.

Well, why not? If Iranian women can cause earthquakes by dressing immodestly and behaving promiscuously, then surely American women can cause forest fires by doing the same. //

I’m sure that religion in this country didn’t used to be under the control of fundamentalist crazies, just as I’m sure the GOP didn’t used to be under the control of fundamentalist crazies.

I don’t know what the hell happened, but it’s a very disturbing trend.

Nothing new. We can trace the crazy from Cotton Mather and the witchhangers through a cylcic series of Awakenings and Revivals. You need a firm spiritual foundation if you’re going to exterminate one race and enslave another.

This always cracks me up.

God has such a strange way of expressing himself.

Sweden- the worlds most atheistic state, as well as abortion, sex ed in schools, the pill for free, homosexual marriage and all that. I would have guessed it would be a prio target for God. But how does he punish us?

The Gulf-stream keeps us much warmer in winter than other places equally far north.
Enough land to feed the population- yes
enough rain- yes
enough freshwater- yes
excessive heat in summer - no
hurricanes etc- no
floods- not really
earthquakes- no
poisonous snakes, spiders etc- no
wildfires- no
Global warming - probably wont affect us as bad as more southenly parts of the planet.
Beautiful women- oh yes.
So a nice and stable environment. Thats some punishment.

It always seems that for the far right fundies, natural disasters can always be attributed to gay Americans and/or women. For some reason, they’re obsessed with these two groups. If Sigmund Freud were alive, I can imagine that he’d be very pleased to psychoanalyze them.

Three of my grandparents left Sweden to come to America. After reading your comment, I want to move back.
